To create leveraged income, youve got to recruit and build a downline. In Jasons opinion, its the sponsors responsibility to represent the truth about the business. The sponsor creates the reality for the new recruit, he says. A distributor with no previous network marketing experience has little to no idea about this enterprise. Misrepresent the reality of network marketing, and youre setting them up for failure. Our job, as sponsors, is to represent the truth, treat recruits as legitimate business partners, and own the responsibility for both their success as well as their failure.

Plus, it requires the sponsor to engage the new recruits within 24 hours of their enrollment, which begins to forge the relationship.

Making sure the people he sponsors are a good match with his personality is also important. I wont take just anybody, Jason says. My new recruits become my business partners, so I want people who are motivated and willing to learn. If our personalities dont mesh, Ill let somebody else sponsor them.

Jason highlights transference of belief, through promoting the next impending event, as his key component for success. Network marketing is 95 percent psychological and 5 percent hard work, Jason says. You must take those new members, with all their anxiety and certainty, through an evolutionary process whose end result is complete conviction and belief. In-home presentations, hotel meetings, regional trainings, and conventions are what ultimately bridge the gap between uncertainty and belief. If they believe, they can transfer that belief to others. Getting new people to events tackles the 95 percent. After that, the remaining 5 percent hard work happens all by itself.

Ultimately, Synergy is about building relationships and creating friendship and trust in the people you work with. People try to systematize and computerize the industry in an attempt to make it easier, but it doesnt work long-term. I learned this lesson the hard way. Synergy is a people business.
